Premier League 2026/27 opening weekend: TV schedule and how to watch

The Premier League 2026/27 season returns this weekend with all 20 teams in action across four days from Friday, August 21, to Monday, August 24. Arsenal begin their title defence in the curtain-raiser against Frank Lampard's Championship winners Coventry City, while newly-promoted Hull City face Manchester United. Manchester City play their first Premier League match without Pep Guardiola on the touchline, welcoming Bournemouth.

How to watch the Premier League on TV

Sky Sports remains the Premier League's main UK broadcaster, screening a minimum of 215 matches live during the season. Sky will transmit approximately 1,500 fixtures from the Premier League, EFL, Carabao Cup and other competitions across its TV and digital platforms.

Viewers need a Sky TV and sport package, with prices starting at £35 monthly for the Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle. The offer includes Premier League, EFL, F1, darts and golf coverage, with a £384 reduction versus the standard price of £51. The package includes roughly 100 standard channels plus Netflix Standard with Ads and discovery+ subscriptions. A £44 Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle adds free Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu memberships.

New features and TNT Sports coverage

New for this campaign is Your Multiview, launching on August 21, allowing viewers to watch up to four simultaneous Sky Sports events on one screen. A new Sports Hub delivers scores, statistics, tables and additional content during live matches. Current Sky subscribers can add Sky Sports channels from £22 monthly on a new 24-month contract, while Sky Sports channels are available with selected Virgin Media packages.

Certain matches will be broadcast exclusively on TNT Sports, which holds rights to one game per gameweek, starting with Hull vs Manchester United. TNT will also air two full rounds of midweek fixtures in February and March 2027. These can be viewed on TNT Sports, HBO Max or Prime Video's TNT Sports channel, with subscriptions from £25.99 per month on a yearly commitment or £30.99 monthly rolling.
