Archie Self, 16, breaks Luke Littler's nine-darter record

Archie Self has become the youngest player ever to hit a televised nine-darter finish, breaking the record previously held by Luke Littler. The 16-year-old achieved the feat during the MODUS Super Series, marking a historic moment in his young career.

Record-Breaking Nine-Darter

Self produced an exquisite opening nine darts in the first leg of his match against Danny Ayres, on his way to an eventual victory. The youngster left commentators in awe, having already come close during Champions Week.

"Yes, young man, it's nine, it's the nine," said Pluto TV's commentator. "He's done everything else this week but he brings home the nine-darter in Champions Week. What a player, what a shot."

Comparisons with Littler

Littler secured his first televised nine-dart checkout just days before his 17th birthday, while Self has managed to claim the record just three weeks before he is legally allowed to learn to drive.

The teenager has established himself as one of the sport's top prospects, competing across the JDC, PDC, ADC, and MODUS circuits. At 15, he won the WDF World Youth title.

Rapid Rise in the Sport

Self's PDC Players Championship debut came in August against Luke Littler. While he lost to Littler, he went on to push Keane Barry to a deciding leg.

His first PDC ProTour win arrived in September against Pero Ljubic. Self recorded a 98+ average before beating Karel Sedlacek in the second round of the Players Championship in Den Bosch, before losing narrowly to William O'Connor.

Self then claimed his maiden PDC Development Tour title with a 5-2 victory over Sam Jackson earlier this month, once again averaging more than 90 (91.64).

Champions Week Finale

Self is set for a place in Saturday's Champions Week Finale this weekend, holding a healthy lead at the top of Group A after 15 matches. The teenager has racked up a 13-2 record against the likes of Derek Coulson, Andy Baetens and David Davies, and averaged 99.77, more than five higher than his nearest rival.
