Aldi: one week left to claim £3,000 sports grants

Aldi has reminded Britons they have one week left to claim up to £3,000 in funding for grassroots sports clubs. Applications close at 11.59pm on Monday, August 31, with three separate funds available: £3,000, £1,250 and £750.

How the Aldi Sports Fund works

The Aldi Sports Fund provides support towards essential costs such as equipment, team kits, coaching, training programmes and facility hire. A total of 39 grants are on offer, including 13 Gold Awards worth £3,000, 13 Silver Awards worth £1,250, and 13 Bronze Awards worth £750.

Clubs hoping to win the cash must submit an application of up to 200 words explaining what makes their club great, how they would use the funding, and the difference it would make to their local community.

Deadline and application details

Applications opened on Monday, August 3 and will close at 11.59pm on Monday, August 31. Clubs can apply by emailing sportsfund@aldi.co.uk.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi, said: "Grassroots sports clubs make a huge difference to communities across the country, but we know that keeping them running comes with significant costs."

She added: "We’d encourage clubs to get their applications in before the deadline and tell us what makes their club special and the difference the funding could make."

Athlete meet-and-greet for Gold winners

As Aldi is an official partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB, winners of the Gold Award will also have the chance to meet a professional athlete.

Tim Ellerton, chief commercial officer at Team GB, and Jenny Seymour, commercial director at ParalympicsGB, said: "Aldi is a fantastic partner to Team GB and ParalympicsGB, and we are delighted to see them extend their commitment to supporting sport at every level across the country."

They added: "From local communities to the world stage, they understand the extraordinary impact sport can have. It will be great to see athletes getting involved and helping to make that impact felt in communities nationwide."
