Zverev Admits Injecting Himself on Court at Wimbledon

Alexander Zverev has confirmed that he injected himself with insulin on court during his third-round Wimbledon victory over Marcos Giron. The French Open champion, who has Type 1 diabetes, addressed the matter in his post-match press conference.

Zverev's On-Court Injection

Zverev, 29, revealed that he administered the injection in full view of spectators and cameras. "I do it on court. I think everybody sees it. I did it today, as well," said the German, who won in straight sets to reach the fourth round.

The world No. 2 emphasized the importance of visibility for others living with diabetes. "I've said it many times. I have a foundation for kids with diabetes. I was once a kid who just got diagnosed with diabetes. I had parents whose kid got diagnosed with diabetes 20-plus years ago," he added.

Impact on Diabetic Community

Zverev expressed hope that his actions could inspire others. "If we as a foundation, and me just as a tennis player and somebody who has diabetes, can help even just a single kid or a single parent, I'll be the happiest person in the world."

He noted that he is not alone in being a role model. "I think there's a lot of great role models with diabetes these days. I think there's a lot of great athletes, there's a lot of actors, musicians, who have diabetes."

Message of No Limits

Zverev concluded with a message of empowerment. "I think it shows that, yeah, with diabetes there shouldn't be any limits. You can always dream about the biggest things in the world, and really achieve them."
