Scottie Scheffler's caddie, Ted Scott, has earned an estimated £2 million ($2.6 million) in the first five months of 2024, surpassing the career earnings of several former world number ones. The 50-year-old caddie's income is based on a percentage of Scheffler's prize money, which has totalled over £18 million ($23.3 million) from six tournament wins this year, including The Masters.
While the exact terms of their contract are undisclosed, standard caddie rates suggest Scott receives 10% of winnings for a victory, 7% for a top-10 finish, and 5% for making the cut. His estimated earnings this year exceed the career prize money of former world number ones Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose, and Adam Scott.
Scheffler's dominance has also propelled him to fifth on the PGA Tour's all-time earnings list with £55.3 million ($70.3 million), behind only Tiger Woods (£95 million), Rory McIlroy (£71 million), Jim Furyk, and Vijay Singh. The 28-year-old's earnings in the last six months alone would rank 72nd on the all-time list.
Scott, who previously caddied for Bubba Watson during his two Masters victories, has now helped Scheffler to two green jackets (2022 and 2024). With four major wins as a caddie, he is joint-second on the list of most successful caddies, behind only Willie Peterson and William 'Pappy' Stokes, who each won five.
