Louis Rees-Zammit scored two tries, mocked Henry Pollock's famous celebration and confronted England star Tommy Freeman as Bristol Bears dismantled champions Northampton Saints 41-26 in the English Premiership.
The Wales winger was in electric form, making it four tries in the opening two matches of the season. He was only denied a hat-trick after Freeman cynically took him out to concede a penalty try and earn a sin bin.
Confrontation and celebration
As Freeman left the field, Rees-Zammit confronted the Lions man, telling him he should have been sent off and shoving him amid huge cheers from the Bristol crowd.
Earlier, after scoring his first try, Rees-Zammit mimicked Northampton flanker Pollock's famous pulse celebration before launching into a swallow dive for his second.
Pundits praise acceleration
TNT Sports pundit Austin Healey said: "He is just rapid isn't he. The acceleration. The defender's in a really good defensive position but his first three strides just take his arms too long."
Sam Warburton added: "I think it settles the argument about whether he is a 14 or 15. He's not in those positions as often at 15. He's such a serial finisher. That acceleration across 10 metres is almost unrivalled and makes it look so easy."
Wales boost and team effort
Rees-Zammit's early season form is good news for Wales coach Steve Tandy, with the 25-year-old looking back to his best following last season's experiment at full-back. He followed up his two tries against opening opponents Sale Sharks with another double to put Bristol on the way to a bonus-point success.
He also shone in defence as Bristol largely nullified Northampton's free-flowing game, while Harry Randall, Gabriel Oghre and Tom Jordan added further Bristol tries, and there was also the penalty try, with James Williams kicking three conversions and a penalty.
Northampton trailed by just a point at half time and were in contention throughout but ultimately came up short despite scores from George Hendy (2), Alex Mitchell and Josh Kemeny. Fin Smith booted three conversions. Saints finished with 13 players following yellow cards for Tommy Freeman and Ion Neculai.
There was also positive news for Bristol when their England centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg was able to watch the second half from the touchline after being carried off following a midfield collision that left him requiring prolonged treatment.
