Kai Havertz will return to Arsenal for assessment on a hamstring injury. The Gunners forward came off in the first half of Germany's draw with the Netherlands in the Nations League in Amsterdam on Thursday night.
Klopp confirms scan
Speaking after the match, manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Havertz would be sent for a scan and was unlikely to feature for Germany during the rest of the international break. "Probably out for us, but hopefully then also relatively quickly available again," Klopp said.
The decision has been made for Havertz to leave the Germany camp on Friday and return to Arsenal, with the German Football Association (DFB) stating that he had suffered a "muscle strain". He will undergo further tests with the club's medical staff, but there is optimism that Havertz has not suffered a long-term injury.
Early return to club
Havertz was already due to report back at Arsenal before the rest of the club's international players. With Klopp naming a much larger Germany squad and splitting it in two, Havertz was only going to be in the camp for the first two of his country's four matches during this three-week international window. However, even that has been brought to a premature end and Arsenal are now hoping for positive news.
The extended international break means that Havertz has more time to recover than he usually would. Arsenal are not in action again until they host Leeds on October 10.
Form and injury history
Havertz had been in strong form during the early weeks of the season for Arsenal. He scored in the Community Shield win over Manchester City and has started all five of Arsenal's Premier League matches so far. Injuries hampered Havertz last season and he has already matched that tally of two league goals. A previous hamstring injury suffered during a mid-season training camp in Dubai caused him to miss half of the 2024/25 campaign.
