East Kilbride Mountaineering Club travelled to the Isle of Arran at the weekend, ahead of their upcoming social evening. Members journeyed west to enjoy the great outdoors, including the panoramic summit view from Goatfell, the island’s highest peak.
Arran trip highlights
After the weekend trip, a club spokesperson said: “This month saw the club head to Isle of Arran for some brilliant views and an array of walks - Goatfell, Clauchland Hills to Lamlash, then the coastal path to Brodick and a few tackled Beinn Tarsuinn.”
“We were Lucky with the weather, and there was time for a social blether at the Douglas Hotel before the ferry home.”

- October 18 – Ben Lawers
- November 15 – Arrochar
Next week, they will be welcoming anyone interested in joining the club to a social evening at the Village Inn on Wednesday, September 2. It will be upstairs in The Village Inn, East Kilbride, 7pm for 7.30pm.
Club details and membership
Formed in 1969, the friendly and sociable mountaineering club meet every four weeks on Sundays and coordinate a bus run for the majority of their high and low-level walks which cater for all ages and abilities. Affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland, the South Lanarkshire club have a varied calendar.
The club spokesperson added: “We run a four-weekly bus and meet on Sundays. Guests are welcome to join twice before committing to membership, and we cater to all abilities – aiming to offer a high and low level walk each month. We are a sociable, friendly club who will warmly welcome new members.”
