Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson is confident that new signing Tony Yogane can be a match winner for the Dons, as the winger prepares to return to Dundee on Saturday.
Yogane impressed during a loan spell at Dundee last season, prompting Aberdeen to pay a six-figure fee to sign him from Brentford. Robinson has high hopes for the 20-year-old, describing him as a "game-changer" who can excite the crowd.
High praise from Robinson
Robinson said: "He's a game-changer, Tony. Lovely boy. Takes all the information on board."
"It's only his second season again in professional football. He's 20 years of age, so I'm conscious of putting too much pressure on him."
"But he's a joy to watch at times. He glides past players. His enthusiasm for the game, he wants more."
"So we're expecting big things from him. But again, we have to dip him in and out at times as well."
Investment in creativity
Robinson also invested in Lewis Smith, another creative player, and believes such signings were not possible at his previous clubs like Motherwell, St Mirren, and Morecambe.
He stated: "It's something I didn't have at other clubs - match winners. People that go past people."
"That's what you pay good money for. A young boy with huge, huge potential."
"He's exciting. He excites the crowd - if I'm sitting in the crowd, I want people to go one v one against people. I want them to be creative."
Yogane's desire to join
Robinson revealed that it did not take much persuasion to bring Yogane to Pittodrie, and if it had, he would have pulled the plug on the deal.
He insisted: "No, not at all and I always go by my signings."
"If I have to convince them, and there's more than one phone call, don't sign them."
"It's been something that I've always done in football."
"(Don't sign them) if you have to beg somebody to come and play for you, or they ever think they're coming to do you a favour - which you have to be careful when we get all excited about people that come from bigger clubs in different leagues."
Summer signings
Robinson has made 12 signings this summer, all eager to join Aberdeen, including goalkeeper Marius Muller from Wolfsburg.
"Marius has got a huge drive," Robinson said. "He's come from the Bundesliga."
"He wants to play. He wants to win things. He wants to be competitive."
"So it's always something I've wanted to do with my signings is make sure they're hungry."
Upcoming fixtures
Aberdeen head to Dundee on Saturday, full of confidence after five straight wins, including a dramatic comeback against Hearts in their Premiership opener.
They will also host Dundee at Pittodrie the following week in the Premier Sports Cup.
