Troy Williamson is confident he can knock out Callum Simpson for a second and final time, crediting a new herbal supplement for his added power. The Darlington fighter dropped Simpson four times last December before stopping him to claim the British, Commonwealth, and European super-middleweight titles.
Rematch clause activated
Williamson saw no need for a second fight, but Simpson activated his rematch clause, and the pair will meet again in Leeds on Saturday night. The champion believes his new Tongkat Ali supplement, derived from an Asian plant, has given him extra knockout strength.
“It's just not just my power; my drive, my focus, my energy have all improved,” Williamson said. “But most importantly my strength has increased. The Tongkat Ali is the best supplement on the market. Obviously as a professional athlete, everything needs to be tested. But everything I take from Ten Percent Club is Informed-Sport tested, which is a bonus.”
Surprised by rematch decision
Williamson admitted he was surprised when Simpson demanded a rematch but is relishing the chance to repeat his last performance. “I was surprised they asked for a rematch,” he added. “But Callum's a fighter at the end of the day. His ego was damaged and he'll obviously want to try and get that revenge. I can see why he wants to fight again, but really, his team, his coach, his manager, even his promoter, should have told him it's time to move on.
“They've made a bad decision activating the rematch because when I knock him out again, he's got going to be coming off two back-to-back knockout losses and that's going to be hard to come back from. I want to put it all to bed, put everything behind me and move on towards bigger and better things.”
Troy Williamson was speaking on behalf of Ten Percent Club, a supplementation brand in professional sports, which works with several footballers and athletes, including Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.
