Victor Wembanyama delivered a commanding performance on both ends of the court as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-82 in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, levelling the series at 2-2. The French centre finished with 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals, setting the tone with an early three-pointer and a block on Chet Holmgren's dunk attempt.
After taking responsibility for the Game 3 loss, Wembanyama ensured the Spurs did not repeat their mistakes. San Antonio built a 15-point lead in the first quarter, as they had in the previous game, but this time they maintained control. The Thunder cut the deficit to five in the second quarter, but a late run, including a Wembanyama three-pointer from near midcourt, sent the Spurs into half-time with a 12-point lead.
Devin Vassell contributed 13 points and helped force 20 Oklahoma City turnovers, which yielded 25 points for San Antonio. The Spurs held the Thunder to 33% shooting from the floor and just 6-of-33 from three-point range, their worst shooting performance since March 2022. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 19 points but sat out the entire fourth quarter as the game slipped away.
Oklahoma City's bench, which had dominated the series, was outscored 34-30 by San Antonio's reserves, with Alex Caruso failing to score. Injuries to Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell disrupted the Thunder's rotation. Coach Mark Daigneault admitted his team lacked sharpness, saying, 'We left a lot to be desired on that end.' The Spurs now head to Oklahoma City for Game 5 with momentum firmly on their side.
