Robbie Williams has warned that the public fallout from Coleen Rooney's accusation against Rebekah Vardy could be 'suicide-causing'. The singer said that while he understands Coleen's need for revenge, the backlash may provoke 'levels of shame' that could have severe consequences.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Williams said: 'Let's say Rebekah was guilty – which we don't know. How she will feel inside right now is 10 times worse than how Coleen would have felt when those things were happening to her. It's a dangerous game to play… I understand Coleen's need for revenge and I probably would have done the same thing but we have to be careful. It's suicide-causing – provoking these levels of shame.'
The drama began last month when Coleen Rooney accused Rebekah Vardy of leaking fake stories to the press. Coleen claimed she set up a private Instagram account and posted false stories, blocking all accounts except Rebekah's. She said the stories subsequently appeared in The Sun newspaper, leading her to publicly name Rebekah as the source.
Rebekah has strongly denied the allegations and has since hired a forensic team to analyse her Instagram account in an attempt to prove her innocence. Coleen has not commented further since her initial statement. The incident has sparked widespread speculation among fans and media.
