Tyson Fury Plans August Return Before Anthony Joshua Showdown

Tyson Fury has revealed he will have one more fight before his long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua later this year. The 37-year-old returned to the ring last month with a comfortable points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and immediately called out Joshua, who was watching ringside.

Fury announced his retirement last year after back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, but quickly reversed his decision. Days after his comeback fight, it was confirmed that both Fury and Joshua had agreed to face each other, with the bout expected in October or November.

Speaking to FurociTV, Fury outlined his fight plan: 'So my fight plan this year, with three fights. So it will be April, August and whenever the big fight is announced, either October or November. We have not got an opponent yet. But again, it’s never about the opponent, it’s just about me versus me always.'

His August return could land on the 1st, after former footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic posted on social media that he would fight Fury in Dublin on that date. While a clash between the two is unlikely, the Swede may have inadvertently leaked Fury's return date. An opponent for Fury is yet to be confirmed.

Fury also predicted he would knock out Joshua, citing Joshua's previous knockdowns against Daniel Dubois. 'I’ll knock him out for sure. He does not have any chin and I will bang him on it because I am quicker than him and I am a better boxer,' Fury said.
