Tyson Fury has hinted at an August return to the ring in Dublin, as he eyes a warm-up bout before facing Anthony Joshua later this year. The former heavyweight champion posted an Instagram story on Tuesday showing himself jogging, with the caption: “Let’s go August 1 Dublin Ireland.”
Fury is contracted to fight Joshua at an unknown date, likely in October or November, but not before Joshua competes this summer. Joshua will box Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on 25 July, and Fury apparently wants to be back in action one week later.
The 37-year-old recently teased a potential fight with retired football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, sharing a joint-Instagram post that read: “BREAKING NEWS! ITS ON AUGUST 1 DUBLIN Ireland, @tysonfury @turki [Alalshikh, Saudi matchmaker]. #makingboxinggreatagain.”
Fury’s latest training camp is based at ISS Boxing Gym in Thailand, where he prepared for his last fight – a points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April. That victory marked Fury’s fifth comeback from retirement, following back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
The long-awaited clash with Joshua, almost a decade in the making, is expected to be broadcast on Netflix, with a rematch reportedly planned for 2027. However, fans are warned to manage expectations, as a previous contract for the fight fell through in 2021 due to Deontay Wilder’s legal action.
