Saudi billionaire Turki Al-Sheikh has a net worth of approximately £2.08 billion, according to CEO Today magazine, far less than Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's £12.8 billion fortune. Al-Sheikh sparked speculation about a potential United takeover with a cryptic tweet suggesting the club is in advanced talks to sell to a new investor.
Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, founded the Riyadh Season, a series of entertainment and sporting events. He has organised major boxing matches, including Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, and attracted WWE to host events in the country, with Wrestlemania set for 2027.
In football, Al-Sheikh purchased Spanish club Almeria in 2019, who currently sit ninth in the second tier. Despite his wealth, he likely lacks the funds to buy United outright, though he could be part of a consortium. There is no indication he personally intends to bid for the club.
The Glazer family, who control United, have a combined net worth of £7.46 billion, per Forbes. Their 'drag along' rights allow them to sell the entire club, but no sale has been confirmed despite Al-Sheikh's tweet.
