Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox have shared heartfelt tributes to their late Friends co-star Matthew Perry, more than two weeks after his death. LeBlanc posted on Instagram that the times they had together were 'among the favourite times of my life', calling it an honour to share the stage with Perry and to call him a friend.
LeBlanc, 56, included a selection of pictures of the pair as Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing, and ended his message with a lighthearted reference to a debt: 'I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.' Cox also shared a favourite moment, describing Perry as 'funny and kind' and recalling how he whispered a funny line for her to say before a scene that became pivotal for their characters' love story.
Other cast members, including Maggie Wheeler and Hank Azaria, have also paid tribute. Wheeler, who played Janice, said she felt 'blessed' to have worked with Perry, while Azaria credited Perry with helping him get sober. Perry’s memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, detailed his struggles with addiction, and the Matthew Perry Foundation has been established to continue his commitment to helping others with addiction.
Perry died on 28 October at the age of 54. Los Angeles police responded to a call for a death investigation, and the fire department found him unconscious in a stand-alone Jacuzzi.
