Thomas Tuchel has insisted he can cope with the pressure of managing England after his side's underwhelming 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Andorra in Barcelona on Saturday. The Three Lions struggled to break down a team ranked 173rd in the world, leading to boos from fans at half-time and full-time.
Tuchel, whose side have won all three qualifiers under his stewardship, acknowledged the performance was not good enough. 'We were not happy and no single player will be happy with what we showed,' he said. 'We played with fire. We didn't play like we have to play in a World Cup qualifier when we were only 1-0 up.'
The England manager, who took over after Gareth Southgate's departure, said the biggest pressure comes from himself. 'I always feel pressure as I am not happy with myself. The biggest pressure comes from myself. We have three wins and three clean sheets and we have a friendly match on Tuesday. I have felt more pressure than that.'
When reminded that England managers are judged differently to club bosses, Tuchel replied: 'Fair enough. I am always ready for that.'
Ivan Toney was an unused substitute against Andorra, with Tuchel deflecting questions about the Brentford striker. 'It's not the time now to talk about Ivan Toney,' he said. 'Because we just played a game and we must analyse the game.'
England face Senegal in a friendly at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Tuesday, where a poor performance could cut short Tuchel's honeymoon period.
