Tuchel names England squad for Spain and Croatia Nations League ties

Thomas Tuchel is set to name his final England squad of 2026 on Friday, November 6, for the Nations League clashes with Spain and Croatia, as the Three Lions chase a place in the quarter-finals this month.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss picked 27 players for October's international break but left out Phil Foden. Cole Palmer subsequently withdrew, prompting a pointed response from Tuchel.

"For sure it's a missed opportunity [for Palmer]," Tuchel said last month. "It's another missed opportunity. He misses too many opportunities, and I don't blame him for it. It's just the fact. If you're not in camp, there's a next level to impress that you cannot achieve because you only can do it when you're actually with me on the pitch and with us on the pitch so, yeah, it is a missed opportunity."

Selection questions and Palmer fitness

England are understood to have consulted Chelsea over Palmer's fitness ahead of the latest squad announcement.

The squad is due to be announced at 10am, with a press conference from Tuchel to follow.

Fixtures and schedule

England have two Nations League fixtures next week. They face Croatia at Wembley on Thursday, November 12, with a 19:45 kick-off, followed by Spain at the Metropolitano on Sunday, November 15, also at 19:45.

It is a shorter international break than last time, with only one weekend between Premier League fixtures. The English top flight action returns on Saturday, November 21.
