Tuchel Drops Bellingham and Foden from England Squad

Thomas Tuchel has left Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden out of his England squad for the upcoming friendly against Wales and the World Cup qualifier in Latvia. The head coach has instead kept faith with the majority of the group that impressed in last month's wins over Andorra and Serbia.

Bellingham, who recently returned from shoulder surgery, has started only once for Real Madrid, while Foden has been pushing for a recall after rediscovering his form at Manchester City. Tuchel said he had a 'straightforward' phone call with Bellingham, who expressed his desire to be included, but the coach opted to maintain squad continuity.

Bukayo Saka returns to the squad after injury, replacing Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke. Jack Grealish has not been recalled, and Tino Livramento drops out with a knee injury. John Stones, who missed last month's camp, is included, with Tuchel suggesting he could be used in midfield.

Tuchel emphasised the importance of team spirit, saying 'team spirit is the key factor in the end.' He added that there is no issue in his relationship with the omitted players, but that selection is based on current form and squad cohesion, not reputation.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has not started a Premier League game this season, is included but warned that he must perform regularly at club level to retain his place. Tuchel said: 'To just be a good citizen in camp will not be enough to stay the whole year.'
