Adama Traoré has completed a move to West Ham United from fellow London club Fulham, with the winger revealing that a film about the Hammers first showed him the deep passion of their supporters.
The 30-year-old Spain international said: "I've been seeing West Ham for a long time. It's a massive club, a massive fanbase. I've been watching since I was young, when I watched a film about West Ham. I know about the fans and how much passion they have."
The reference is widely believed to be to the 2005 fictional drama Green Street, which explored football hooliganism in England through a group of supporters linked to the club. Green Street was also the name of a road leading to West Ham's former ground, Upton Park, before the club moved to the Olympic Stadium.
Traoré, a product of Barcelona's academy, has previously played for Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Wolves, and is now reunited with Nuno Espírito Santo, his former manager at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Nuno said of the signing: "He will give us a different option in attacking areas."
The winger made 15 Premier League appearances for Fulham earlier this season without registering a goal or assist. He joins West Ham as they battle to avoid relegation, sitting five points from safety but having won their last two league games against Tottenham and Sunderland.
Traoré could make his debut on Saturday evening, when West Ham travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, who have won their last three matches under new manager Liam Rosenior.
