Arsenal are exploring a surprise January move for Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, according to reports, as the January transfer window approaches. The Gunners are among several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham, seeking new signings.
Arsenal's Striker Search
The Italian-born German forward has scored nine goals in 12 appearances this season, including a hat-trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League. Reports suggest Arsenal view Tresoldi as an alternative to Julian Alvarez, with Viktor Gyokeres' future at the club subject to significant doubt.
Club Brugge have no intention of losing Tresoldi in January, according to TEAMtalk, and would demand a fee exceeding the Belgian record £33.5m Arsenal paid for Christos Tzolis in the summer. The 21-year-old is valued at around £42m after Brugge rejected a £30m offer from Roma in August. Tottenham and AC Milan are also interested.
Manchester United Defensive Overhaul
Manchester United are planning a defensive overhaul, renewing interest in Lewis Hall and targeting Adrien Truffert, Jarrad Branthwaite and Ruud Nijstad. The Athletic claim Nijstad, a left-footed centre-back, is valued at around £9m by Eredivisie side Twente, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich also interested.
Michael Carrick is in serious danger of the sack following the Champions League humiliation by Como. Julian Nagelsmann, Antonio Conte, Fabian Hurzeler and Eddie Howe could all be in the running to replace him.
Chelsea and Liverpool Targets
Chelsea are keen on Yasin Ayari as they continue to fight Liverpool for Alex Scott. Liverpool are leading the race for Gilberto Mora, while Tottenham battle Arsenal for Tresoldi and also target Endrick.
Arsenal are also interested in Barcelona defender Xavi Espart, who has a release clause in excess of £84m. Real Madrid remain interested in Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori, but the Gunners would only consider offers above €100m (£84.7m).
