The summer transfer window has taken another twist as Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all work to get deals done before the deadline. Arsenal have been given hope in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, with Liverpool reportedly ready to abandon talks. Myles Lewis-Skelly has been offered to Chelsea and Man Utd, while Man Utd want a left-back such as Lewis Hall.
Arsenal boost as Liverpool 'ready to abandon' Barcola talks
Liverpool are prepared to walk away from talks over the transfer of Bradley Barcola as they struggle to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Arsenal on alert. The Reds are yet to replace Mohamed Salah, who joined Trabzonspor as a free agent last week, and have earmarked the France winger as a top target.
Talks have been ongoing between the clubs for some time, but an agreement is not thought to be close. According to The Athletic, PSG have set their asking price at around £145million. Liverpool are not willing to match that fee, and, conversely, PSG will not waver, despite Barcola himself being keen on the move as he looks to boost his minutes.
Lewis-Skelly offered to Chelsea and Man Utd
Myles Lewis-Skelly has been offered to Chelsea and Man Utd following Bruno Guimaraes's move to the Gunners, firmly throwing the versatile defender's future into doubt. Man Utd want a left-back, having also been linked with Lewis Hall, David Raum, Antonee Robinson and Jorge Salinas.
Chelsea could announce the signing of Pep Chavarria today, and believe Manchester City are interested in Enzo Fernandez. Tottenham still have both Cody Gakpo and Savinho at the top of their wishlist for the remainder of the window, and are set to sell Cristian Romero to Atletico Madrid, while Inter Milan are back in for Djed Spence.
Ezri Konsa to Arsenal twist as Aston Villa make key decision
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed Ezri Konsa will miss the UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain, amid links to Arsenal. Villa take on PSG in a meeting between last season’s Europa League and Champions League winners at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Wednesday night.
Though, Villa’s hopes of lifting a second European trophy in the space of three months have been hit as Konsa is unavailable for selection along with Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins. While all three players have been linked with moves away from Villa Park this summer, Emery insists the trio’s absences are not transfer related, rather being given extra time off following the World Cup.

Tottenham have opened discussions with Monaco over Folarin Balogun. French outlet L’Equipe claim the former Arsenal striker is valued at around €60million (£51.2m) having impressed for USA at the World Cup earlier in the summer. Spurs, though, may have to move fast as the report states several Spanish sides and Newcastle are interested in Balogun.
Morgan Rogers could be in line to make his Chelsea debut this weekend, along with three other summer signings. Chelsea have played five pre-season friendlies so far, beating Western Sydney Wanderers and AC Milan, and face Real Sociedad on Saturday for Xabi Alonso’s first home game in charge. Rogers, a £117million arrival from Aston Villa last month, is yet to feature for his new club because of a mandatory three-week post World Cup holiday as he helped England beat France in the bronze final on July 18.
Former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has revealed his next job will be in club football, despite holding talks with the KNVB over the Netherlands vacancy. Slot has been out of work since parting company with Liverpool at the end of May, though he was tipped as a surprise contender for the Fulham job prior to Alvaro Arbeloa's appointment. More recently, there have been suggestions that Slot will become the next Netherlands head coach, succeeding Ronald Koeman who left the role after the World Cup round of 32 exit against Morocco. However, amid reports he had withdrawn from talks with the KNVB after a dispute over his contract, Slot has issued a statement to set the record straight.
Crystal Palace and Alverca have now agreed a deal for Mofe Jemide. Standard Sport understands Palace will receive a minimal fee for the 19 year-old defender. Furthermore, Jemide will sign a three-year contract with the newly-promoted Portuguese Primeira Liga side.
