Tottenham boost: Pedro Porro 'almost back' from injury

Pedro Porro has declared he is "almost back" from injury, providing a significant boost for Tottenham Hotspur and head coach Roberto De Zerbi ahead of Monday's match against Coventry.

Porro has not featured for Spurs since limping off against Aston Villa before the autumn international break, which caused him to miss the 1-1 draw away at Manchester United.

Recovery in Spain

The right-back used the extended international window to fly to Spain and see a specialist to aid his recovery from a hamstring injury.

While the World Cup winner remained at Hotspur Way during the international break, De Zerbi confirmed the trip to Old Trafford came too soon for Porro to be involved.

"Pedro and [Mykhailo] Mudryk are both not available," he said. "Pedro - I think - not for many games, and for Mudryk, something more."

Social media update

However, the decision to see a specialist appears to have paid off, as Porro took to social media on Friday to deliver an encouraging update on his rehabilitation.

Posting a video clip of him jumping onto a plyometric box from a seated position, early suggestions indicate the Spaniard's hamstrings are fully healed.

The two-word message of "almost back" could mean he will be in contention for a place in the Spurs matchday squad against Coventry on Monday night.

Press conference and Kulusevski update

De Zerbi is expected to provide a further update on Porro in the press conference on Sunday morning, after the team return from their warm-weather training camp in Marbella.

The unusual timing also means Spurs supporters have to remain patient to discover if Dejan Kulusevski can feature too. Kulusevski is closing in on a return to action after nearly a year-and-a-half out with a complicated kneecap injury.

The Swedish playmaker travelled with the rest of the Spurs squad to Old Trafford but was not included in the matchday squad.
