Sienna Tindall, daughter of Newcastle United assistant manager Jason Tindall, has provoked a backlash from fans after posting an emotional appeal on social media following Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby at St James' Park.
The loss, which saw Newcastle slip to 12th in the Premier League with only seven games remaining, prompted jeers from supporters at the final whistle. In response, Tindall took to Instagram to urge unity, writing: 'Losing to Sunderland hurts... But what's not acceptable is turning on our own.'
She added: 'This group of players has given everything for this club... Fatigue is real. Pressure is real. And still, they show up and fight for the badge every single time.' The message, however, drew furious reactions from fans, leading Tindall to make her account private.
Newcastle, who also lost to Sunderland earlier in the season, now face an uphill battle for European qualification. The result has intensified scrutiny on Eddie Howe's side, with supporters venting frustration both at the stadium and online.
