Tielemans: No comment on Martinez's Man Utd board dig

Youri Tielemans simply said "no comment" when he was asked about Lisandro Martinez's stunning dig at Manchester United's board.

Martinez was furious when he spoke to Amazon Prime after losing against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, saying: "I have to control myself a lot. But sometimes it's a reflection of how our club is at the moment, you know?"

The defender then ripped into Jason Wilcox, saying he "expected more" investment in the squad over the summer, before suggesting that the blame for the poor start to the season lies with the club's decision-makers.

Tielemans' Response

Tielemans spoke to Amazon Prime shortly after Martinez's bombshell interview. When his comments were put to the Belgian, he said: "I've got no comment on that."

It was put to Tielemans that emotions could be running high in the dressing room, to which he responded: "Yeah, maybe. I don't know."

Match Analysis

The 29-year-old spoke in more detail about the team's performance, saying: "When you concede after a minute, it's very hard to get into the game straight away. Yeah, we really wanted to start well, to start right."

"But yeah, they got a - I wouldn't say lucky counter, but the ball falls into the attacker's feet whilst we make the tackle and try and double up on him. So yeah, then they finish well."

"We try and come back into the game, create a few chances that we can't bury and we can't score. And unfortunately after that, it was just not for us."

"They have the quality, they can play through us at times, which is totally normal in football. But I thought we did well in spells, and our character and energy was good. But yeah, when you lose a game, it's very hard to explain."

Looking Ahead

Tielemans wants United to stick together as a group, despite Martinez's comments.

"That's how we're going to get through it, you know," he said. "And the only thing that's going to make us come back into it is to get a few wins. But we have to keep working, to keep trusting each other, and yeah, be together in this."
