Swansea player ratings: 9/10 duo smash Blackburn 4-0

Swansea City returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday. Goals from Stephen Eustaquio, Joseph Opoku and Filip Lissah put the hosts three up by half-time, before Ross Stewart opened his account for the club with a superb strike midway through the second half.

Dominant first-half display

Lawrence Vigouroux had little to do but performed his duties with minimal fuss. Filip Lissah produced one of his best showings in a Swansea shirt, contributing solid defensive work and oozing confidence with the ball at his feet, capped by taking his goal well. Ben Cabango was solid throughout, making several eye-catching defensive contributions including a robust tackle on Augustus Kargbo.

Stephen Welsh's balls played from deep caused Rovers problems all afternoon, including for the second and third goals, despite a couple of scruffy defensive moments. Josh Tymon was a constant menace on the left, linking up well with Eom Jisung, and his cross ultimately led to the opener.

Midfield mastery

Eom Jisung linked up effectively with those around him and provided a superb assist for the fourth goal, though he had a couple of sights of goal he might have made more of. Jay Fulton kept things ticking over in the middle of midfield with a superb standard of passing throughout.

Stephen Eustaquio was named star man with a 9/10 rating, popping up with the opening goal as reward for a dominant performance. He filled Rovers with terror every time he got on the ball but came off with what looked an injury. Melker Widell's decision-making let him down a couple of times inside the box, but he pressed magnificently and was often at the heart of his team's best moves.

Attackers shine

Ross Stewart should have scored just before the break but opened his account in fine style midway through the second half, lashing home an unstoppable strike on his first start. Joseph Opoku also earned a 9/10 rating, taking his goal well and providing the brilliant work that set up Eustaquio for the opener.

Among the substitutes, Zan Vipotnik had a couple of late chances he should have done better with, while Goncalo Franco made more tackles than anyone except Opoku despite his late introduction. Tiago Parente showed energy on the left but his delivery let him down, and Adam Idah did not quite get into the game. Josh Key looked bright and set up a decent opportunity for Vipotnik late on.
