Swansea City 4-0 Blackburn: Stewart nets first goal in romp

Swansea City produced a commanding 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at the Swansea.com Stadium, with Ross Stewart marking his first start for the club by scoring the fourth goal. The result came as a strong response to last week's 5-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers.

Swans Race Into a Three-Goal Half-Time Lead

Goals from Stephen Eustaquio, Joseph Opoku and Filip Lissah put the contest beyond Blackburn by the interval. Stewart, one of three changes from the Loftus Road loss, opened his account for the Swans with an unstoppable finish midway through the second half.

The margin of victory did not fully reflect Swansea's dominance over a Blackburn side that had won four of their last six outings. Rovers were poor throughout, while Swans boss Vitor Matos had been reminded this week of his team's record of just one win against top-half sides this season.

Opoku and Lissah Shine in Attack

Swansea were on the front foot from the start, with Opoku threatening inside 10 minutes. The Ghanaian was then involved in the opener, hooking the ball back from the byline for Eustaquio to tap home after Tymon's cross was only half-cleared.

Opoku doubled the lead on 32 minutes, capitalising on Tom Atcheson's mistake following Stephen Welsh's through-ball to race away and slot home. Four minutes later, Lissah scored his first goal for the club, bringing down Welsh's cross-field pass and firing in a low shot that Balazs Toth got a hand to but could not keep out.

Stewart's Stunning Strike Seals the Win

Stewart made it four on the hour mark, racing onto Eom's flick to rifle a left-footed strike into the net. He was soon replaced by Zan Vipotnik, who spurned a couple of chances to add a fifth as the game approached 90 minutes.

Blackburn's Augustus Kargbo raced away and fired just over the bar late on, drawing ironic cheers that underlined how one-sided the contest had been. Swansea now face trips to Portsmouth and Birmingham before the international break.
