Everton continue their pre-season preparations with a trip to the Bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City on Tuesday night. The match kicks off at 7:45pm BST and represents the Blues' third friendly of the summer.
Pre-season Progress
Having already visited Dundee and Bolton, David Moyes' side now face Championship opposition. Stoke City finished 17th in the Championship last season and are managed by Mark Robins. This game is their penultimate friendly before their competitive season begins against Oldham in the Carabao Cup on August 8.
Everton's Defensive Solidity
The Blues are yet to concede a goal in pre-season after a goalless draw with Bolton on Saturday. Moyes has expressed satisfaction with his team's defensive organisation. However, new signing Hayden Hackney is in line for some involvement as the manager seeks more attacking output.
Historical Context
It has been over eight years since Everton faced Stoke in a competitive league fixture. The last such meeting was in March 2018, when Cenk Tosun scored twice, including a late winner, in a 2-1 victory at the Bet365 Stadium. Stoke were relegated that season after losing 1-0 at Goodison Park on the opening day to a Wayne Rooney goal.
