Steve Bruce's daughter, Amy, has given birth to a baby boy named Beau. The happy news comes just over a year after the Bruce family was left devastated by the sudden death of Amy's son, Madison, in October 2024. Madison was only four months old when he passed away.
Amy and her husband, former Fulham and Leeds United striker Matt Smith, are also parents to a son named Lennon. The news of Beau's safe arrival was shared by Amy's brother, Alex Bruce, on his Instagram. The former Birmingham and Hull City defender, now a coach at Salford City, posted a heartfelt message welcoming his "new little nephew".

The past year has been exceptionally difficult for the Bruce family. In an emotional interview with The Athletic earlier this year, Steve Bruce confessed that the grief led him to consider walking away from football management entirely. Both Steve and his son Alex temporarily stepped back from their coaching roles following Madison's death.
"There were times when I thought about not coming back," Steve Bruce revealed. "I'm sure people would've totally understood but sometimes football has given me a little bit of an escape from it all." Bruce did return to manage Blackpool but left the club in October 2025. He has been open about the enduring pain, stating, "there's still not a day where it doesn't affect you".

In the aftermath of Madison’s death, a woman in her 40s who was working as a nanny was arrested on suspicion of child neglect. However, Greater Manchester Police later concluded their investigation, ruling the death a tragic accident with no criminality involved.
