Raheem Sterling has reportedly been offered the chance to leave Chelsea this summer, with Juventus emerging as a surprise suitor for the England winger. The Italian giants have shortlisted the 29-year-old as they look to bolster their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
Sterling joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022 for a fee of £47.5 million, but has struggled to replicate his best form at Stamford Bridge. In two seasons, he has scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions, but is now believed to be surplus to requirements following Chelsea's imminent signing of Wolves winger Pedro Neto.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus are assessing the feasibility of a move for Sterling, who is also attracting interest from other Premier League and Serie A clubs. The Italian side are expected to face stiff competition for his signature, with Jadon Sancho and Nico Gonzalez also on their shortlist.
Sterling recently expressed his desire to return to the England squad after missing out under former manager Gareth Southgate. Speaking to The Athletic, he said: 'If the opportunity comes around, it is something that I've always dreamt of as a kid... I am looking forward to getting back in the England setup, that is for sure.' A move to Juventus could provide him with more regular playing time and a fresh start in Serie A.
Chelsea are close to completing a deal worth up to £54 million for Neto, which could pave the way for Sterling's departure. The 24-year-old Portuguese winger has agreed personal terms and is set to undergo a medical in the coming days.
