Wouter Vrancken admitted his disappointment after Hearts dropped two late points in their Conference League opener. Oisin McEntee had put Hearts ahead, but Nordsjaelland grabbed a point with four minutes to go through Nicklas Rojkjaer at Tynecastle.
Dominant start but late sucker punch
The Hearts head coach knew it was one that got away. “No, no. For sure, disappointment. We didn't take three points when you see the first 70 minutes. So we were really good.
“Really happy with the performance, actually, because in the first 70 minutes we were dominant on the ball and also out of the ball. We were dominant, aggressive also.
“I’m really happy to see that we could do it against this side, because we know how strong they are, like we said already before the game. So it's a real disappointment to concede the goal then.”
Subs under scrutiny
Hearts lost the equaliser with some of their players running on empty. They conceded the goal before Vrancken could make a triple change. He was still looking for more from his substitutes, especially JJ Williams and Sabah Kerjota who were on at 1-0.
He claimed: “No (I didn’t think we would lose a goal), because we also know how to defend a goal, and it was a deflection. So we were unlucky there.
“But again, I expect a bit more from subs when they come on also, to give the energy, to hold the ball or to hold off the pressure, and to show something more. They did already a few times before, and we didn't have to complain about this until now.
“Now, when you do a substitution, you expect more energy than there was at the moment, and it wasn't like that.
