Staveley Eyes West Ham Stake as Joelinton Seeks Newcastle Exit

Newcastle United are enduring a turbulent summer, with Eddie Howe's exit looming and Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali already gone. Bruno Guimaraes and Howe are expected to follow, as a new era under PIF and Al Ahli's Matthias Jaissle takes shape. Meanwhile, the woman who brokered the club's takeover in November 2021 is back in the news.

Staveley in talks over West Ham stake

Amanda Staveley is looking to acquire all or part of the 25.1 per cent stake in West Ham United owned by the Gold family, according to Sky News. The investor, who has previously been linked with an interest in Tottenham Hotspur, may not yet become a shareholder in the Hammers, with the situation described as "extremely fluid".

Any deal is complicated by pre-emption rights, which give West Ham's existing investors first refusal on any shares sold. Earlier this year, Daniel Kretinsky, who owns a 27 per cent stake in the club, bought 16 per cent of it from Vanessa Gold. The talks involving Staveley value West Ham at up to £600million.

Joelinton wants Newcastle exit

Joelinton has told Newcastle that he wanted to leave the club in the weeks following the end of last season, according to MailOnline. The 29-year-old midfielder, who signed for Newcastle in a then-club-record £40m deal in 2019, has been a key player at the club but has not yet received an offer from another side. He remains under contract until 2028.

Joelinton's desire to move on adds to a series of departures at St James' Park this summer. No offer has been forthcoming so far, leaving the Magpies to decide how to handle the Brazilian's future.
