Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has confirmed the club is actively searching for an attacking player following a hamstring injury to Richarlison that will sideline him for up to seven weeks. The Brazilian forward was forced off during the FA Cup loss to Aston Villa on Saturday, compounding an already depleted forward line.
Spurs have been without Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison all season, with neither close to returning. The sale of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace and the thigh injury ruling out Mohammed Kudus until April have left Frank with limited options. Richarlison is the club’s top scorer this season with eight goals, seven in the Premier League.
“Richy unfortunately got a hamstring injury that will keep him out for up to seven weeks,” Frank said. “We are in the market, as I said many times, to see if we can improve the squad, but it needs to be something that improves us for the short and long term. It can’t only be for the next four months.”
Dominic Solanke has recently returned from a long-term ankle injury, joining Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani, Mathys Tel, and Wilson Odobert as attacking options. Midfielder Lucas Bergvall could also return against West Ham this weekend.
Frank also confirmed the appointment of John Heitinga as a coach, replacing Matt Wells, and the forthcoming arrival of Rafi Moersen as director of football operations. The manager acknowledged the challenging spell but urged calm: “It seems like when we get a fit player back, another one gets injured. That’s football sometimes. We need to get through the tough spells.”
