Tottenham Fans Voice Outrage Over De Zerbi's Greenwood Support

Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust has expressed 'serious and far-reaching concerns' over the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as head coach, citing his past support for Mason Greenwood. The trust warned that De Zerbi's remarks could create a divide among fans as the club battles relegation.

De Zerbi, who signed a five-year contract on Tuesday, previously backed Greenwood's move to Marseille while managing the French club. Greenwood faced charges of attempted rape, controlling behaviour, and assault, which were dropped in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew. De Zerbi called Greenwood a 'good person' and said it 'saddens me what happened to him'.

The trust said these comments were 'unnecessary, ill-judged, and deeply offensive', adding that they would leave victims of male violence alarmed. It called on the club and De Zerbi to reaffirm their commitment to equality, respect, and integrity.

Other supporter groups, including Proud Lilywhites and Women of the Lane, have also condemned the appointment. The trust urged Spurs to take meaningful action, such as supporting women's charities, to address the concerns.
