Broadcasters deliberately focused on Carvajal, 34, who remained unused on the bench, capturing his blank expression. Sources told The Athletic he was 'p***** off' about being sidelined, though he remains committed to training. Carvajal has been available since early January but has played only 27 minutes since then.
Manager Arbeloa, recently promoted from the B team, downplayed the decision, saying he 'didn't want to take any risks'. However, with Carvajal's contract expiring this summer after 23 years at the club, speculation of tension persists.
