Snoop Dogg has landed in Swansea ahead of his first visit to the Swansea.com Stadium as a minority owner of the Championship club. The American rap legend became a co-owner last summer as part of a consortium that includes Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric and television personality Martha Stewart.
The 54-year-old will make his debut appearance at the stadium on Tuesday evening as Swansea City face Preston North End. The club has urged fans to be in their seats 20 minutes before kick-off to join Snoop in a pre-match towel twirl, a gesture he demonstrated in a social media video.
Snoop Dogg's net worth is estimated at £118 million ($160 million), accumulated through his career as a rapper, producer, entrepreneur and actor. He has also launched a wine label, a children's programme called Doggyland, and a cookery show with fellow investor Martha Stewart.
Speaking on the club's website, Snoop cited Swansea's working-class roots as his motivation for investing. 'The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me,' he said.
Snoop has also expressed affection for Scottish champions Celtic, stating he would be open to investing in the club if the opportunity arose. He has been married to childhood sweetheart Shante Broadus since 1997.
