Jadon Sancho has returned to first-team training at Manchester United after a 10-month absence, following a meeting with manager Erik ten Hag that resolved their differences. The forward has reflected on the public outburst that led to his exile and is now focusing on full participation in pre-season.
Sancho was excluded from the squad in early September after Ten Hag claimed he had not trained to the required standard. Sancho responded with a tweet disputing this, effectively calling the manager a liar, and refused to apologise. He was subsequently loaned to Borussia Dortmund in January, where he regained form and played a key role in their run to the Champions League final.
In May, Ten Hag confirmed that a club contingent had met with Sancho in Germany. Sancho returned to training on Thursday but will not travel to Norway for Monday's friendly against Rosenborg, having started pre-season later due to his Champions League involvement. He is available for next Saturday's match against Rangers and the US tour.
The club may listen to offers for Sancho as they need to sell players to finance recruitment. Meanwhile, Jonny Evans has signed a new one-year contract. The 36-year-old said he was delighted to extend his stay, citing the privilege of playing for the club and the unforgettable FA Cup win.
Evans, a United academy graduate, made 30 appearances last season, including as a substitute in the 2-1 FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
