Australian football captain Sam Kerr has married her partner, former West Ham and USA star Kristie Mewis, in a lavish ceremony in her hometown of Perth. The New Year's Eve event saw the couple's family, friends, and a host of Kerr's international teammates come together to celebrate.
A Stunning Swan Valley Venue
The wedding took place at the opulent Dionysus Villa in Perth's Swan Valley. Over 100 guests first gathered at the Crown Towers resort in Burswood before being transported to the Venetian-style manor for the ceremony. The property, which boasts grand pilasters and arches, was sold in 2021 for an estimated $2.78 million to $3.24 million.
Guests adhered to a strict all-black dress code for the daytime event, which unfolded in the villa's front courtyard. The Perth heat soared to around 35 degrees Celsius, with some attendees seeking shade under parasols.
The Ceremony and Celebrations
Kerr made her entrance walking down the aisle with her seven-month-old son, Jagger, who wore a matching black tuxedo. Mewis later confessed this moment was "gut-wrenching" and emotional. Kerr then handed Jagger to her father, Roger, before reciting her vows to Mewis.
Mewis dazzled in a glittering white corset and a transparent gown, while Kerr cut a sharp figure in a black tuxedo with a white boutonniere. Following the "I dos," the Australian superstar was pictured lifting her new wife onto her shoulders as celebrations began.
The guest list featured a who's who of women's football, with Matildas stars Steph Catley, Caitlin Foord, Emily Van Egmond, Alanna Kennedy, Mackenzie Arnold, and Katie McCabe all in attendance, having flown in from across the globe.
Reception and Festivities
As the sun set, the party moved into full swing. A long dinner table was set in the courtyard, where guests enjoyed a premium drinks menu featuring Pol Roger Brut champagne, cocktails, and fine wines. Afterwards, the tables were cleared to make way for a chequered dance floor.
Van Egmond was seen dancing alongside saxophonist Tom Greble, while the group partied late into the evening. The couple later shared that they had stayed in the Crown Towers' top suite for four nights before jetting back to London with Jagger on Saturday.
Kerr and Mewis first connected in 2019 after Mewis "slid into her DMs." Their relationship became public after the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, they got engaged in 2023, and welcomed son Jagger in May 2025. Kerr, who recently returned from an ACL injury, is now preparing for Chelsea's Women's Super League clash against West Ham.
