Matildas captain Sam Kerr and US international Kristie Mewis married in a New Year's Eve ceremony in Perth, as confirmed by Mewis on her podcast and social media. The couple, who welcomed son Jagger earlier this year, exchanged vows at a private home in front of 120 guests.
Mewis shared details of the wedding on The Women's Game podcast, hosted by her sister Sam Mewis, revealing they wrote their own vows and shifted the ceremony later to celebrate New Year's Eve with attendees. On Tuesday, Mewis posted a sneak peek of her wedding outfit on Instagram with the caption 'Tomorrow 🥹❤️'.
The couple, who began dating in 2020 and got engaged in late 2023, will not take a honeymoon immediately due to Kerr's football fixtures. However, Mewis mentioned they are considering attending the men's World Cup as a potential trip.
Kerr confirmed their relationship in August 2021 after rumours during the Tokyo Olympics, where Australia faced the US. The wedding marks a milestone for the two professional footballers, who have been open about their relationship and family life.
