William Saliba has issued a warning to Premier League defences about Arsenal's new £63 million signing Viktor Gyokeres, describing the Swedish striker as 'scary'. The centre-back faced Gyokeres in last season's Champions League and is relieved the forward is now a teammate.
Gyokeres completed his move from Sporting Lisbon and joined up with Arsenal in Singapore on Sunday night. He was unveiled to fans before Arsenal's 3-2 win over Newcastle United in their final pre-season game in Singapore.
Saliba said: 'We know how good he is, it's scary to play against him. Of course, I'm so happy to have him in my club, and I'm sure that he will help us to win games and win trophies.' He added: 'Why scary? Because when you face a striker who scores goals, you have to be focused! But now he's in our team and he will score for us, so that's good.'
Arsenal now head to Hong Kong to face Tottenham on Thursday, having won both their pre-season games so far against AC Milan and Newcastle. Saliba commented: 'There are a lot of positive things. We played two games; we won two games. There are also a lot of things to improve, but of course we have to keep going like that. We have three games left before the Premier League, so we have to keep going and keep winning games.'
