Mohamed Salah has admitted that Liverpool's second Premier League title triumph in five years feels 'way better' than the first, as he spared a thought for former teammates Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, as well as ex-manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Egyptian star was instrumental in securing the title for Arne Slot's side, registering 46 goal contributions in 34 games. However, during the celebrations following Sunday's 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham, Salah reflected on the 2020 title win, which took place without fans due to Covid-19 restrictions.
'Ah, this is way better 100 per cent. Without Sadio, without Jurgen, without Bobby, with everybody it feels more special, with the fans,' Salah told Sky Sports. 'But you know, you have a different group now, a different manager and you show you are able to do it again – it's something special.'
Salah also paid tribute to Slot, who has transformed his game this season. When asked if the Dutchman had made him a better player, Salah quipped: 'You can see the numbers! Now I don't have to defend much. The tactics are quite different. I said, "As long as you rest me defensively I will provide offensively", so I am glad that I did.'
The forward added: 'When you play in the Premier League you have to defend but I said that I can gamble and somehow I can make a difference. My number of assists shows that, you can create chances as well.'
