Bukayo Saka has heaped praise on Eberechi Eze, describing the Crystal Palace star as the England teammate who impressed him most in training. The comments come as Arsenal consider a £70 million move for the 27-year-old, who is a lifelong Gunners fan and reportedly keen on the switch.
Saka, 23, said: 'Eze has been class in training. He has impressed me the most, I would say.' Former QPR teammate Joel Lynch echoed the sentiment, admitting he avoided facing Eze in sessions. 'I wouldn't go near him because he'd just do some madness and try and nutmeg me,' Lynch told BBC Sport, adding that Eze was 'miles above the rest' and a 'class act'.
Eze, who joined Palace in 2020, has two years remaining on his contract, giving the Selhurst Park club strong negotiating power. Arsenal have already spent close to £200 million this summer on players including Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Martin Zubimendi, and the addition of Eze would push their total outlay past £250 million – a club record.
The attacking midfielder earned his first England cap in 2023 and was part of the Euro 2024 squad. Last season, he played a key role in Crystal Palace's FA Cup triumph, scoring the decisive goal in the final against Manchester City.
