Roy Keane has delivered a stark warning to Arsenal, emphasising what they must do to secure the Premier League title this season. The Gunners' advantage has been trimmed to just six points over Manchester City following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, compounded by City's commanding 3-0 victory over Chelsea the next day.
Pressure Mounts on Arsenal After Costly Defeat
The weekend's results have intensified the pressure on Mikel Arteta's squad, who have finished as runners-up in the last three seasons due to late-season collapses. Arsenal, having played one more game than their rivals, have now lost three of their last four matches across all competitions. They face a potentially decisive clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday.
Keane, a seven-time Premier League champion with Manchester United, insisted that Arsenal need to regroup urgently in the coming days. "It was a nervous performance from Arsenal and a big setback for them," Keane remarked on Monday Night Football, analysing the Bournemouth loss. "It's OK being nervous, but it's how you deal with it. I wasn't impressed with the body language from certain players."

Keane highlighted that while Arsenal remain in a strong position, leadership within the squad is crucial. "People like Declan Rice, we talk about leadership skills, they've got to get a grip of people," he said. "This is on the players. The fans aren't going to do it for you, the manager can only do so much. He's got a brilliant squad together and they're in a great position—do not let this slip."
He added a pointed warning: "At this moment in time, they're letting the nerves get the better of them. They've got to get a grip of that or they'll let it slip by."

Arsenal's shaky display stood in sharp contrast to Manchester City's dominant 3-0 dismantling of Chelsea, where they scored three second-half goals. Jamie Carragher echoed Keane's sentiments, noting the differences between the two title contenders.
"Arsenal and Man City are trying to win the league differently," Carragher observed. "Man City have more penetration and quality in the final third. Their second-half performance against Chelsea was a complete contrast to the first half. This wasn't about tactics; this was a mindset, and those penetrating runs we didn't see from Arsenal."

Carragher also criticised specific Arsenal players, pointing to poor defending by Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly in the lead-up to Bournemouth's opening goal. He similarly faulted Noni Madueke for his work rate and focus, noting how Bournemouth's Adrien Truffert exploited him in both matches against the Gunners.
Additionally, Carragher commented on summer signing Martin Zubimendi, stating he is "really struggling" right now and "having a tough time in midfield." He emphasised that Arsenal's mental fortitude is key: "The thing for Arsenal is how they are here (pointing to his head). There will be this talk about Man City all week, and they need to work out how they can overcome that."

If they slip up from here, they'll never forgive themselves."
