Rosenior: Enzo Fernandez Key to Chelsea Amid Real Madrid Speculation

Liam Rosenior has dismissed speculation linking Enzo Fernandez with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, insisting the midfielder's long-term future lies at Chelsea. The head coach pointed to Fernandez's commitment, noting he played through illness in Chelsea's recent win over Brentford.

“It means nothing to me,” Rosenior said of the transfer rumours. “When you’re a world-class player, there’s always going to be speculation. He’s been outstanding in the time I’ve worked with him.” Fernandez, whose contract runs until 2032, has impressed under Rosenior, who took over after Enzo Maresca's departure.

Fernandez remains a doubt for Wednesday's Champions League tie against Pafos due to illness, but Rosenior praised his technical ability and versatility. “Technically, he’s outstanding. He covers a lot of ground and can score goals,” Rosenior added.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are dealing with a sickness bug and injuries, with Tosin Adarabioyo out for weeks with a hamstring injury. Estêvão Willian, Malo Gusto and Jamie Gittens have returned to training, while Axel Disasi has been given a clean slate after training with the first team.

Rosenior refused to discuss interest in Rennes defender Jérémy Jacquet and reiterated his ambition for the season, noting Chelsea's history of European success after mid-season managerial changes. “Hopefully third time lucky,” he said.
