Wrexham AFC's Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, found themselves in an awkward video call with Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson while promoting a pre-season friendly. The pair attempted to speak with Ferguson, but Reynolds inadvertently hung up before realising they were on mute, as Ferguson playfully pointed out.
The friendly, scheduled for July 25 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, will see Wrexham face Erik ten Hag's Manchester United. The announcement comes as Wrexham's women's team also celebrated winning the Genero Adran North title, with the side set to turn semi-professional next season.
Wrexham, currently top of the National League, are three points ahead of second-placed Notts County with a game in hand, aiming for automatic promotion back to the EFL for the first time in 15 years. The club's popularity in the US has surged since Reynolds and McElhenney took over in 2021, boosted by their docuseries 'Welcome to Wrexham'.
