Rangers chief executive Jim Gillespie has compared under-fire boss Derek McInnes to Jurgen Klopp during a shareholders meeting.
McInnes, appointed at Ibrox after a stellar spell at Hearts, is yet to win a game as Rangers manager. Sunday's home defeat to Hibernian left them five points behind Celtic after just two matches.

When asked by a shareholder what attracted the club to McInnes, Gillespie said: “You have two types of managers — a Klopp-type manager and a [Pep] Guardiola type. We think Derek is a Klopp type, someone who plays front-foot football and wants to win. Derek is the only manager who ticked all our boxes.”
McInnes did not attend the meeting. Club chief Andrew Cavenagh explained the panel had been arranged months ago, but McInnes was at the training ground preparing for Thursday's Europa League qualifier.

The new boss has come out fighting after the slow start, insisting the team are not as bad as the outside noise suggests.
“We're not as bad as some people will be saying at the minute,” he told Sky Sports. “And I think it's important that we just batten down the hatches, stay strong, stay together. We try, as a club, to come out of this window strong and we will.
“At the minute, we're trying to manage the situation. Some players are not quite as fit but we need to get them playing to get them fit. We're not at the start we wanted but we still plan to get the finish and the outcome that we want and we'll work towards that.”
