Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Ajax winger Mika Godts, a move that could strengthen Liverpool's chances of landing Bradley Barcola. The Reds have been heavily linked with the France international this summer as they look to add more firepower to their wide forward options before the transfer window closes.
Barcola's current contract at PSG runs until the summer of 2028, but it has been widely reported that the 23-year-old does not want to sign an extension at the Parc des Princes. There have even been suggestions that Barcola is open to a move to Anfield, giving Liverpool encouragement that a deal could be done.
PSG line up Godts as Barcola replacement
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are preparing to secure Godts, with the Ajax forward heavily mentioned as Barcola's replacement. The Ligue 1 side are said to have tabled a €40million (£34.2million) offer and have already reached an agreement on personal terms with the Belgium international.
Godts predominantly operates on the left wing for Ajax, and if the deal goes through, it would likely fuel further suggestions that Barcola could be heading for the exit. PSG are also understood to be nearing a deal for Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche, which would add to speculation that Barcola could depart the French champions.
Barcola's price tag and Liverpool's optimism
Previous reports have suggested Liverpool are expected to hold talks with PSG over a deal for Barcola, who is valued at around £140million. However, separate reports indicate the Reds are optimistic about agreeing a fee closer to £100million for the France international.
Liverpool's quiet summer window
Liverpool have had a quiet transfer window so far, with just two additions to the squad now led by Andoni Iraola, who took over from Arne Slot as head coach. Victor Munoz arrived from Osasuna after the club triggered the £34.5million release clause in the Spain international's contract.
The Reds also secured a £60million deal for defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes back in February, with the player officially joining this summer but yet to feature in pre-season.
