Everton fans are being asked to decide the future of on-loan star Jack Grealish after he was left out of the squad for Thursday's Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United due to a breach of club discipline.
The Blues secured a 3-1 win at Goodison Park, with goals from James Garner, Hayden Hackney and Thierno Barry booking their place in the last eight, where they will face League Two side Fleetwood Town.
Grealish absent after training no-show
The official reason given for Grealish's absence was a breach of club discipline. The ECHO has learned that the midfielder did not attend a training session after being unavailable for the 2-0 defeat away to Arsenal through illness.
That breach, along with other reported absences, has raised questions over Grealish's future at the club, where he is on loan for a second successive season from Manchester City.
Moyes stays tight-lipped
Speaking after the Newcastle win, manager David Moyes declined to give details, saying: “You probably know I am not going to give any details. It is a club decision and I support it.”
The 63-year-old added: “It is something I don’t want to speak too much about.”
Enzo Maresca, still technically Grealish's club boss at Manchester City, also addressed the matter, saying: "I still think that he’s a good guy, good boy, big heart. I still think that"
What should Everton do?
The question now facing the club is what to do with Grealish. Options include signing him at the end of the season when he will be available on a free transfer, keeping him for the duration of his loan without a permanent move, or cancelling the loan in January or immediately.
Fans can vote in the poll and share their views on the midfielder's future.
