Pocognoli warned by UEFA over Scotland debut delay

Scotland head coach Sebastien Pocognoli has been warned by UEFA for delaying the kick-off in his first match in charge, a goalless Nations League opener away to Slovenia last month. The European governing body issued the warning over his future conduct after he kept match officials waiting in Ljubljana. The hosts were also fined £1,250 after their fans threw missiles during the game.

Mixed Start to Pocognoli's Reign

The lacklustre first half was not the start the new boss was after, although his team improved markedly after the break but could not find a breakthrough. A first home match against Switzerland ended in a 3-0 defeat after an early Jack Hendry red card, before Scotland got back on track by winning 2-0 in North Macedonia.

However, the return fixture against the Slovenians did not go to plan, with the visitors coming from behind to win 2-1 and leave Pocognoli staring at a likely third-placed finish in the group.

Under-21 Coaches Banned After Bulgaria Clash

Under-21 coaches Tony Docherty and Steven Naismith have also been hit with a one-match touchline ban for their part in a clash during a Euro qualifier with Bulgaria. Four red cards were dished out in just two minutes as players and coaches from both sides clashed during the young Scots' 2-0 win.

A shocker of a tackle by Simeon Shishkov on Aberdeen starlet Dylan Lobban did not go down well, with both Scotland coaches now in the stands for the next game after being found guilty of "unsporting conduct." Shishkov has also been handed a one-game ban, along with his coach Svetlin Spasov.
