Pep Guardiola is set to leave his role as Manchester City manager at the end of the season, but he will not be severing ties with the City Football Group (CFG). Instead, the Catalan coach has agreed to become a global ambassador for the network of clubs owned by City's owners.
In his new capacity, Guardiola will provide technical advice to CFG clubs such as Palermo, Lommel, and Troyes, and will be "working on specific projects and collaborations" with the group. The legendary manager has previously expressed interest in international management, with major tournaments in England (2028) and Spain (2030) on the horizon, but his immediate focus will be on his ambassadorial role.
CFG CEO Ferran Soriano paid tribute to Guardiola's decade at Manchester City, stating: "We have been privileged to work alongside Pep Guardiola for ten years. We have witnessed his greatness and dedication, but also enjoyed his companionship, his friendship and humanity." Soriano added that Guardiola's legacy is "extraordinary" and that his high standards will serve as a reference for future players and managers.
Guardiola leaves Manchester City having won 20 trophies in ten years, a feat Soriano described as "unthinkable" a decade ago. The club expressed gratitude for his contributions and confirmed that his knowledge and experience will continue to benefit the wider City Football Group.
