Preston North End forward Milutin Osmajic has issued a grovelling apology after headbutting Hull City's John Lundstram during Tuesday's 3-0 defeat. The incident, which occurred in the closing stages, resulted in a red card and a three-match ban, bringing his total suspensions to 20 games in the last 16 months.
Osmajic, 26, was previously banned for eight games for biting Blackburn's Owen Beck and nine games for allegedly racially abusing Burnley's Hannibal Mejbri. In an Instagram post, he said: 'I am here because I want to say sorry to everyone for my actions... one bad decision and moment of stupidity led to me being sent off and I am incredibly angry with myself for this.'
The Montenegrin striker will miss upcoming matches against Middlesbrough, Ipswich, and Portsmouth. Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom condemned the lack of discipline, stating: 'A lack of discipline is totally unacceptable... if he gets three games for that, that will be 20 games missed.'
Osmajic joined Preston from Spanish side Cadiz in 2023 and has made 91 appearances, scoring 28 goals, including five this season. He expressed his desire to help the team achieve promotion to the Premier League, adding: 'I love all the PNE fans, and I love this club.'
